When Your Spirit Feels Tired

Healing from Spiritual Burnout

Serenity K. Kashuba

After a catastrophic event, survival often becomes the only focus.

You pray, make decisions, care for others, and keep moving because there is no other choice. But when the immediate crisis begins to settle, spiritual exhaustion can rise to the surface.

You may feel disconnected from God. Prayer may feel difficult. Scripture may no longer bring the comfort it once did.

This does not mean your faith has failed.

It may simply mean your spirit is tired.

Even Jesus stepped away from the crowds to rest and pray. God understands the limits of the human heart and body. He does not demand that we recover quickly or pretend to be strong.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”— Matthew 11:28

Healing from spiritual burnout begins with honesty.

Tell God you are tired. Sit quietly in His presence. Let others pray when you cannot find the words. Accept rest without guilt.

Faith is not always loud, confident, or full of energy. Sometimes faith is simply choosing to remain near God, even when you feel empty.

You do not have to force your way back to strength.

Rest in Him.

Let Him restore you gently.

A Prayer

Jesus, my spirit feels tired and my words feel thin. Thank You for not asking me to be strong before I come to You.

Meet me in the quiet. Restore what feels empty. Help me to rest without guilt and to trust that You are still near, even when I cannot feel it.

Amen.
